Our Story - Meet the Farmers

We started Sills Milling Co. in 2013 as a simple hobby—stone-milling cornmeal and grits for friends, neighbors, and locals here in White County, GA. What began as a small passion project has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Today, we’re proud to serve schools, restaurants, and retail partners across the United States while remaining rooted in the same values we started with.
Sills Milling Co. is owned and operated by Daniel Sills and our family of five on our working farm in Cleveland, Georgia. We grow row crops, mill part-time, and are raising the fourth generation to work this land. Farming isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. Our work is deeply rooted in tradition, heritage, and respect for the land, and we believe there’s something special about watching hard work turn into something that nourishes others. As a Georgia Grown member, we uphold high standards of transparency, quality, and consistency from the field to the finished product.
Using traditional stone-milling methods and original 1940s equipment, we produce grits and cornmeal that preserve the texture and flavor of generations past. Every step of the process happens right here on our family farm—from growing the corn to grinding and packaging each product with care. Our grits and cornmeal are made exclusively from corn, with no additives or fillers, making them naturally gluten-free and full of honest, simple flavor you can trust. We believe you can taste the difference when food is made slowly, honestly, and with intention. Beyond the farm, Daniel proudly serves our local community as a full-time firefighter and paramedic. That same commitment to service, integrity, and reliability carries over into our family business. Whether we’re responding to a call or filling an order, we believe in showing up, doing things the right way, and standing behind our work. Together, we remain committed to producing honest, stone-milled food and preserving authentic Southern flavors. When you choose Sills Milling Co., you’re not just buying grits or cornmeal—you’re supporting a family, a farm, and a way of life we’re proud to carry forward.
